Just outside of the township of Alexandra in the Goulburn Valley at the foot of the Black Range, the scents of bubbling aromas drift from a small farmhouse. Inside, Chrissi & Doug Ridd, make everything from – Infused oils, Dukkahs, Jellies, Chutneys and Marinated Olives. This is TWO PICKLED: a husband and wife team that create a wide selection of artisan products using home grown or locally sourced ingredients: in particular their olive products have been borne out of a partnership with Binalong Rural olive grove – the grove is just a stone’s throw away – particularly their infused Rosemary & Chilli oil which gained Gold & silver in the 2013 Royal National Olive oil competition in Canberra.

Established in 2010, Two Pickled welcomes visitors for farm-gate tastings by appointment or on the second Sunday of each month between the months of September and May. In addition to providing samples; includes Chrissi‘s 9 plus multi grain homemade bread; ideas on how to use the products you will find at Farm Gate Sales For example, try the Cherry Amaretto Preserve and Orange and Cointreau Syrup with your next serve of ice cream or crepes.

The Two Pickled product range includes a variety of fruit and exquisite spiced jellies; Marinated olives; Dukkahs and Spicy products. Additionally, TWO PICKLED make products to order, such as Muscat-Infused Fig Salami, Olive Pate, and an assortment of curds. These made-to-order products are particularly popular in hampers, which Two Pickled can prepare with advance notice. The business has developed a loyal following among Melbourne corporate businesses, for which they specialise in creating corporate gift hampers.

Chrissi and Doug use home grown figs, olives, apples, pumpkins, lemons, limes, kaffir limes, and oranges in their products, and whatever they can’t grow they’ll purchase locally and in season.

When Chrissi developed health problems that limited her mobility, she used the ailment to boost her creativity in the kitchen. She began by making jams and other produce for her friends and family in 2008, and she aimed to create unique products that were not already supplied by larger companies. There is no question that the kitchen is Chrissi’s & Doug’s domain, as TWO PICKLED’s branding, shows Chrissi stirring a cauldron with Doug peering over the side like a modern day Foo aptly confirms their label.
